Professional practice standards and state laws protect the relationship between a client and a Licensed Psychologist; your information cannot be disclosed without your written permission.
- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately. IN SOME STATES I AM MANDATED TO REPORT THE POSSESSION AND/OR VIEWING OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
- If a client is in imminent danger of harming himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation to ensure their safety. If necessary, I am required by the ethics and standards of my profession to take any further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
Outside of these exceptions, safeguarding your privacy and the confidentiality of what you share with me is my goal!
